COE
SINGAPORE: Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums for September's 1st bidding was released at the latest tender exercise last week on Wednesday (4 Sept).
Premiums for Cat A rose by $2,590 from $93,900 to $96,490 for smaller cars below 1600cc.
Cat B had also increased slightly by $411 from $105,889 to $106,300. Cat B has remained in the 6-digit figure range consecutively since the 1st bidding in April 2024.
Prices for Cat C goods vehicle & bus increased by $1,601, from $72,400 to $74,001.
Prices for Cat D motorcycles rose slightly by $491, dropping from $9,310 to $9,801.
Prices for Cat E open category increased by $900, from $106,001 to $106,901.
Cat A premiums hit $96,490, which has been the highest so far in 2024.
With such a strong sustained demand throughout the months, observers expect COE premiums to remain high.
Motor dealers was expecting premiums to be high this round, with the recent car launches and aggressive promotional events by brands such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
Dealers are anticipated to actively bid on and accumulate COEs as they prepare for the upcoming Car Expo in October. During this event, various car brands are likely to present special offers aimed at enhancing their sales performance.
This could further put upward pressure on COE premiums in the coming exercises.
