Breaking Records for the Sixth Time

SINGAPORE: Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums for October's 2nd bidding has just been released, and it's currently surpassed the $150k mark from the latest tender exercise on Wednesday.

Premiums for Cat A rose by $2,000, from $104,000 to $106,000.

Cat B has rose another whopping $3,999 from $146,002 to $150,001.

Five Cs to Four Cs?

Are Singaporeans down to four Cs - cash, credit card, condominium and country club membership? Given that cars are increasingly unattainable, should the material aspirations of our younger generation then forgo that 'C' for car?

Not for car enthusiasts.

noto's Cult of Car co-founder, Karthik Rames points out that "People who understand cars and love driving will look beyond its monetary value. There are great rides to be found, even classic pieces. Those with passion will take their time searching for a car that makes them happy".

"Maybe now it's the time to look for older cars", he added.

Unfulfilled Dreams Inevitable?

As the government pushes for a car-lite society, it's inevitable that many would not be able to fulfil their dreams of owning a car.

But as Mr Benjamin Loo of CarTimes Group mentions that, "Whoever can afford to pay for convenience and time saved, they will continue buying cars" (Source taken from todayonline).
