COE Prices Rose Slightly

SINGAPORE: Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums for June's 2nd bidding was released at the latest tender exercise on Thursday (20 June).

Premiums for Cat A rose by $2,689 from $88,200 to $90,889 for smaller cars below 1600cc.

Cat B had a slight increase by $1,727 from $100,607 to $102,334. It still remains in the 6-digit figure range since the 1st bidding in April 2024.

Not all doom and gloom

On the positive side, prices for Cat E open category dropped by $1,600 from $101,600 to $100,000.

Prices for Cat C goods vehicle & bus fell slightly as well by $689, from $70,589 to $69,900.

COE prices for Cat D motorcycles experienced the least change by $13, increasing from $8,989 to $9,002.

Should I refrain from buying a car?

This round's bidding has been priced slightly higher than last month's COE prices, which has been the lowest since the 2nd bidding of March 2024.

According to a commenter, Schua, expressed that Singaporeans should keep their hard-earned money and refrain from booking a new car until the car dealers' order books dry up to avoid COE prices getting higher.

Another commenter Lelesham, added that rental car companies are pushing COE prices higher, and the drivers are the ones paying for it.
